Acceptable use policy

Short answer

BuzzRelay is sold for messaging people who gave you their number and expect to hear from you — customers, enquiries, bookings, members. It is not sold for messaging purchased or scraped lists, for concealing who is sending, or for anything unlawful. We support customers using it the first way, and we will not help with the second.

What BuzzRelay is for

BuzzRelay automates sending WhatsApp messages from your own account, on your own computer, to contacts you already have a relationship with. Typical legitimate use:

  • Order confirmations, dispatch notices and delivery updates.
  • Appointment and booking reminders.
  • Renewal and payment reminders to existing customers.
  • Offers to customers who opted in to hear from you.
  • Follow-up to enquiries where the person gave you their number.
  • Notices to members of a group, class or community you run.

The common thread is that the recipient gave you the number, for this, and would not be surprised to hear from you.

What it is not for

We do not support, and will not assist with, any of the following.

  • Purchased, rented or scraped lists. Including numbers harvested from websites, directories, or WhatsApp groups.
  • Messaging people who never gave you their number for this purpose.
  • Ignoring opt-outs. If someone asks you to stop, stop, and remove them.
  • Concealing who is sending — impersonating another business, or hiding your identity so recipients cannot tell who contacted them.
  • Fraud, scams, phishing, or messages designed to deceive people into paying or disclosing information.
  • Anything unlawful in your jurisdiction or the recipient's.
  • Messaging minors for marketing.
  • Reselling access to BuzzRelay as a bulk-sending service to third parties whose lists you cannot account for.

Your responsibilities as the sender

BuzzRelay does not supply contacts and has no visibility of where yours came from. Everything the software sends is sent by you, from your account, to a list you assembled. That makes you the data controller and the sender in every sense that matters legally.

Specifically, you are responsible for:

  • Having a lawful basis to message each person — see Is bulk WhatsApp messaging legal?
  • Keeping a record of consent: where it came from and when.
  • Identifying yourself in your messages.
  • Offering and honouring opt-out.
  • Handling erasure requests under GDPR, the DPDP Act or your local equivalent.
  • Complying with WhatsApp's own Terms of Service.

WhatsApp's terms, and what that means for you

WhatsApp's Terms of Service prohibit bulk and automated messaging. Using any automation tool with WhatsApp, BuzzRelay included, is a breach of that agreement between you and WhatsApp, and the realistic consequence is that a number gets restricted or banned.

We are straightforward about this rather than pretending otherwise. It informs how the product is built — conservative defaults, per-device daily limits, randomised delays, quiet hours and a number warmer all exist to keep sending inside what looks like normal human use. It is why we say plainly that no tool can guarantee a number will not be banned.

We cannot recover a banned number. Appeals go to WhatsApp, not to us — see My WhatsApp number was restricted or banned. A ban is not a fault in the software and is not grounds for a refund.

If a support request is clearly about messaging people who did not consent, we will say so and decline. That is not us being difficult — it is the request that most reliably ends in a lost number and a refund dispute, and we would rather have the conversation early.

Privacy

BuzzRelay runs entirely on your machine. Contacts, templates and campaign history are stored in a local database on that computer. We do not receive, store or have access to your contact list or your message content. That also means the security of that data is your responsibility — back up the machine, and control who can use it.

See the privacy policy and terms of service for the formal versions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use BuzzRelay with a purchased contact list?

No. Purchased, rented and scraped lists fall outside acceptable use. They are the fastest way to get a number banned, and in most jurisdictions messaging them is unlawful. We will not assist with sending to lists you cannot account for.

Does using BuzzRelay break WhatsApp's Terms of Service?

WhatsApp's terms prohibit bulk and automated messaging, so yes, using any automation tool with WhatsApp breaches that agreement. It is a contractual matter between you and WhatsApp, and the realistic consequence is a restricted or banned number rather than legal action.

Will you help me if my number gets banned?

We can advise on what likely caused it and how to send more safely afterwards, but we cannot recover a banned number. Appeals go to WhatsApp directly. A ban is not a fault in the software and is not grounds for a refund.

Can BuzzRelay see my contacts or messages?

No. BuzzRelay runs entirely on your own computer and stores contacts, templates and campaign history in a local database there. We do not receive or have access to your contact list or message content.
