Glossary
Definitions of the terms used throughout BuzzRelay and this documentation — device, campaign, template, sequence, spin text, variable, number warmer, quiet hours and the rest — with a note on which ones mean something different in BuzzRelay than they do elsewhere.
BuzzRelay terms
Device
One connected WhatsApp account. Each has its own isolated browser session and its own daily limit, and needs its own number and phone. A campaign sends from exactly one device.
Campaign
One send to a specific set of recipients from one device. Takes a copy of its messages when created, so later template edits do not affect it.
Template
Reusable message content. Has no recipients and no device. Editing one affects only campaigns created afterwards — see Templates vs campaigns.
Sequence
The ordered set of messages a campaign sends to each recipient, separated by the sequence delay.
Contact group
A named set of contacts, used to pick recipients quickly. A contact can be in several groups.
Custom field
An extra column from your imported spreadsheet, available as a variable named after the column heading.
Variable
A per-recipient placeholder in double braces — {{name}}. Resolved when the message is sent. An unknown variable is left visible rather than replaced with a blank.
Spin text
Wording variation in single braces with a pipe — {Hi|Hello|Hey}. One option is chosen at random per send. The brace counts differ from variables deliberately, so the two never collide.
Number Warmer
Ramps a newly connected device from a low daily count instead of full volume — by default 30 on day one, rising by 10 a day for 7 days.
Quiet Hours
A window during which sending is blocked. Off by default. Uses your computer's local time.
Typing simulation
Types with human-like rhythm rather than inserting text instantly.
Daily message limit
A self-imposed ceiling per device per day, default 200. Not a WhatsApp allowance — raising it does not make more sending safe.
Live Chat
A built-in view of your WhatsApp conversations so you can reply without leaving the app. Uses a separate session from the sending one.
Status terms
| Term | Applies to | Meaning |

| Paused | Campaign | Stopped part-way; resumable. |
| Completed | Campaign | Every recipient attempted — not necessarily successfully. |
| Pending | Recipient | Not attempted yet. |
| Sent | Recipient | Every message in the sequence succeeded. |
| Failed | Recipient | At least one message could not be sent. |
| Skipped | Recipient | Deliberately not attempted, usually a daily limit. |
WhatsApp terms
WhatsApp Web
The browser version of WhatsApp, linked to your phone. What BuzzRelay drives.
WhatsApp Business API
Meta's official programmatic channel: approved templates, published tiers, per-message fees, a green tick. A separate product BuzzRelay does not use — see the comparison.
Broadcast list
A built-in WhatsApp feature that sends to up to 256 recipients, but only those who have saved your number — see Broadcast lists vs a bulk sender.
Linked device
WhatsApp's own term for a session linked by QR code. What you create when connecting a device.
Throttling
Informal slowing of delivery before any formal restriction. Usually the first sign of trouble, and it comes with no notification.
Warm-up
Building normal-looking history on a new number before sending at volume.
Opt-in
The person gave you their number for this purpose, knowingly. The single most important factor in whether your number survives.
Terms that differ from common usage. "Device" here means a WhatsApp account, not a phone. "Sent" is counted per recipient, not per message. "Completed" means attempted, not delivered.
Frequently asked questions
What does "device" mean in BuzzRelay?
A device is one connected WhatsApp account, not a physical phone. Each has its own isolated browser session and its own daily limit, and needs its own number and phone. A campaign sends from exactly one device.
What is the difference between a template and a campaign?
A template is reusable content with no recipients and no device. A campaign is one specific send to specific people from one device, and it copies its messages from the template when created — so later template edits do not change it.
What does "sent" mean in campaign results?
It is counted per recipient, and means every message in that recipient's sequence succeeded. A recipient whose second message failed is recorded as failed even though the first arrived.
What is throttling?
An informal slowing of message delivery by WhatsApp before any formal restriction is applied. It arrives with no notification and is usually the first sign that a number is in trouble.
