Licensing and devices
One BuzzRelay licence activates one computer at a time, bound to a device identifier derived from your hardware. There is no limit on how many WhatsApp numbers you connect within that install. Moving to a new machine, or major hardware changes, needs a licence reset from support — that is free and not a repurchase.
Two different meanings of "device"
The word does double duty, which causes confusion:
| Term | Means | Limited? |
|---|---|---|
| Licensed computer | The PC BuzzRelay is activated on | Yes — one at a time |
| Device (in the app) | A connected WhatsApp account | No fixed limit |
One licence, one computer, unlimited WhatsApp numbers. The licence does not cap how many numbers you connect. What limits you in practice is hardware — each connected number runs its own browser session.
What a licence covers
- Activation on one computer at a time.
- Updates.
- As many connected WhatsApp numbers as your machine can handle.
- As many contacts, groups, templates and campaigns as you like.
How binding works
On activation, BuzzRelay derives an identifier from your hardware and ties the licence to it. Consequences:
- The same licence will not activate a second machine while it is bound to the first.
- Major hardware changes can make the machine look new.
- Reinstalling Windows may or may not preserve the identifier.
- A rebuilt or cloned VM presents as a different machine.
Once activation has succeeded, the licence keeps working without contacting our server each time — so a machine that is offline, or behind a restrictive firewall, keeps running. You still need internet to send, because sending goes through WhatsApp Web.
Requesting a reset
Email support with your purchase code or licence key and a one-line reason. Common valid reasons:
| Reason | Reset needed? |
|---|---|
| Moving to a new computer | Yes |
| Replaced motherboard, CPU or drive | Yes |
| Reinstalled Windows | Sometimes |
| Rebuilt VM or VPS | Yes |
| Reinstalled BuzzRelay only | No |
| Connecting more WhatsApp numbers | No — unlimited |
Resets are free. This is not a repurchase.
Ask before you wipe the old machine. A reset is simpler to arrange while you still have the working install, and it lets you back up %APPDATA%\BuzzRelay\ first — your data does not travel with the licence.
Moving to a new computer
- Email support for a licence reset.
- Back up
%APPDATA%\BuzzRelay\on the old machine — at minimumdatabase.dbandmedia\. - Install BuzzRelay on the new machine and let the browser download finish.
- Close it, restore the backed-up files into
%APPDATA%\BuzzRelay\. - Start it, activate with your code, and reconnect your devices by scanning QR codes again.
Device sessions do not transfer — you will re-scan. Everything else does. See Where BuzzRelay stores your data.
The trial
Where offered, the trial runs once per computer and is tied to the same hardware identifier, so reinstalling does not reset it. Anything you create during a trial remains when you activate a full licence.
What the licence does not cover
- Your WhatsApp numbers. Those are yours, and subject to WhatsApp's terms.
- Recovery of a banned number. Appeals go to WhatsApp — see restricted or banned.
- AI usage. You supply your own API key and are billed by that provider.
- Contact lists. BuzzRelay does not supply them — see Acceptable use policy.
Frequently asked questions
How many computers can I install BuzzRelay on?
One at a time. The licence binds to a device identifier derived from your hardware. Moving to another machine needs a free licence reset from support.
Is there a limit on how many WhatsApp numbers I can connect?
No. The licence covers one computer, not a number of WhatsApp accounts, and there is no fixed cap on connected devices. The practical limit is your hardware, since each connected number runs its own browser session.
Do I have to pay again to move to a new PC?
No. Licence resets are free. Email support with your purchase code or licence key before wiping the old machine, so you can also back up your data folder first.
Does my data move with the licence?
No. The licence and your data are separate. Back up %APPDATA%\BuzzRelay\ from the old machine and restore it on the new one — device sessions do not transfer, so you will re-scan the QR codes.
