License activation failed
Most "invalid purchase code" errors are the wrong code: the purchase code is a UUID inside your Envato licence certificate, not the item ID and not the invoice number. If the Activate button does nothing or times out, a firewall or antivirus is usually blocking the check. If the code is reported as already in use, it is still bound to another machine — or to this one before a hardware change — and needs a reset.
"Invalid purchase code"
Nearly always the wrong value. Envato shows several identifiers and only one of them activates.
| This is | Looks like | Use it? |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase code | xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx | Yes |
| Item ID | A short number | No |
| Invoice / order number | Digits | No |
| Envato username | Your account name | No |
To get the right one: log in to codecanyon.net → My Downloads → find BuzzRelay → Download → License Certificate & Purchase Code. The purchase code is the UUID inside that document.
Also check:
- No stray spaces. Copying from a PDF often picks up a trailing space. Delete and retype the last character.
- Nothing missing. The UUID has four dashes and is 36 characters including them.
- Right product. A purchase code from a different Envato item will not activate BuzzRelay.
For a direct licence key, the format is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and you must choose I have a License Key, not the purchase-code option.
The Activate button does nothing, or times out
Activation needs to reach our licence server, so this is a connectivity problem:
- Confirm you are online.
- Temporarily disable antivirus and firewall and try again. If it works, add BuzzRelay as an exception rather than leaving protection off — see Antivirus or SmartScreen is blocking BuzzRelay.
- Allow it through Windows Firewall. Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall → Change settings → enable
BuzzRelay.exeon both Private and Public. - Try another network. A phone hotspot rules out a corporate proxy quickly.
If the button appears completely dead with no error at all, whitespace pasted with the code is a common cause — the field can end up holding something that fails validation silently. Clear it and retype the last few characters by hand.
"Already in use" or "already activated"
The licence is bound to a device identifier derived from your hardware. This message means it is already bound elsewhere:
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Activated on your old PC | Email support for a reset |
| Replaced motherboard, CPU or drive | Email support — the machine now looks different |
| Reinstalled Windows | Usually fine, but can require a reset |
| Running in a new VM or VPS | A rebuilt VM presents as a new machine |
| Genuinely a second computer | One licence covers one machine at a time |
To request a reset, email support with your purchase code or licence key and a one-line explanation. We release the old binding and you activate normally.
It was activated and now says it is not
Once activation succeeds on a machine, it keeps working without contacting our server each time. If a previously activated install starts asking for a licence again, something changed the hardware fingerprint:
- Hardware replaced or upgraded.
- Windows reinstalled.
- A cloned or restored VM image.
- Disk imaging software that changes volume identifiers.
Contact support with your code — this is a reset, not a repurchase.
Still stuck
Send support the exact on-screen message, whether you are using a purchase code or a licence key, and %APPDATA%\BuzzRelay\logs\app.log. Do not include the full code in a public forum post — email it.
Frequently asked questions
Why does BuzzRelay say my purchase code is invalid?
Usually the wrong identifier. The purchase code is a 36-character UUID inside your Envato licence certificate, not the item ID, invoice number or username. Get it from codecanyon.net → My Downloads → Download → License Certificate & Purchase Code, and check for a trailing space when pasting.
The Activate button does nothing. What is wrong?
Activation needs to reach our licence server, so it is usually a firewall or antivirus blocking the connection. Allow BuzzRelay.exe through Windows Firewall on both Private and Public networks, or test on a phone hotspot to rule out a corporate proxy.
My licence says it is already in use. How do I move it?
The licence binds to a hardware-derived device identifier, so it is still attached to another machine — or to this one before a hardware change. Email support with your purchase code or licence key and we will release the old binding.
Why is BuzzRelay asking for a licence again after it was activated?
Something changed the hardware fingerprint: replaced components, a Windows reinstall, a cloned VM image, or disk imaging that alters volume identifiers. Contact support for a reset — you do not need to buy again.
